Buffalo City Council Submits to Terrorist Demands

I sent the following comments to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, and he just called to say he wished he’d received it earlier, he’s already issued a statement acquiescing to terrorist demands, based on the verbal assurance the City Council was all in favor.  At a minimum, they should have waited on public input and provided the Mayor with a formal vote count.

Hi Byron,

I hope this note finds you well.

I am writing to encourage you not to acquiesce to the ill-advised call to “boycott” Indiana – the Religious Freedom Law only reinforces the First Amendment right to freedom of religion, expression, speech and association, prohibiting the forcing of  individuals or businesses to provide goods or services that, in so doing, would violate their statement of faith. It is NOT a license to discriminate outside the bounds of objections based on religious grounds pertaining to gay marriage.

In addition, Governor Pence has tabled the measure pending clarification on the language.

Government did not create marriage to begin with and therefore does not have the authority to redefine it. If wisdom prevailed, gay marriage laws would be repealed, gay couples would be required to obtain a civil union certificate and then seek out a pastor or church to perform the ceremony – just like hetero couples.  That in itself would not be difficult as five major denominations have agreed to do so.

Our laws are supposed to guarantee equal protection for all not special protection for some.

Likewise, there are a multitude of businesses that gladly welcome homo or hetero business. To force a business to provide goods or services against their religious convictions now becomes a violation of THEIR civil liberties.

The media frenzy is creating another false story, fomenting division where it didn’t previously exist, not unlike Ferguson.

Thank you for your time.
